Sun Damage

Sun Damage

Sun is vital for our skin & body but the harmful UV Rays also cause many problems. Usually, tanning presents immediately after sun exposure but other sun induced problems present months and years later. We can develop wrinkles, fine lines, freckles, uneven pigmentation, prominent dilated blood vessels, rough skin, comedones (acne like) and even skin cancer.

Prevention

  • Sunscreens: A minimum 30 SPF with PA+++ is important. Sunscreen in you makeup isn’t enough. Also you need to re-apply your sunscreen every 3 hours for all day protection.
  • Moisturizer: It is important to apply a moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated. Depending on whether your skin is oily or dry, you need to choose the correct moisturiser for your skin.
  • Antioxidants Serums and Tablets: Sun exposure generates free radicals in our skin which have detrimental effects. It is important to have antioxidants in your diet, topical creams and in the form of oral supplements to quench those free radicals.

Treatment

  • Targeted Topical Treatment: To address your problem, it is important to use specific topical creams according to your skin concern. It is always better to start your treatment under the guidance of your skin specialist rather than using advice from friends or Google.
  • Chemical Peels: These are procedures done in a doctor’s clinic to make your skin better. By using different fruit acid peels or vitamin A derived peels, the top layer of your skin is gently exfoliated and you get a better looking skin. You might need a number of sessions to completely get rid of your problem.
  • Laser Therapy: Lasers and IPL technology can be used to help your freckles, uneven pigmentation, fine lines and rough skin.
