Hyperpigmentation
Hyperpigmentation literally means an increase in pigmentation. It can occur as generalized darkness or as patchy blemishes.
- Melasma – It is a common skin problem affecting mainly the face. It occurs as patchy blemishes over cheeks, nose, forehead and upper lips.
- Tanning – It is generalized darkness of the face & body caused by sun exposure.

- Freckles
- Skin Diseases – A number of skin diseases can lead to darkness of face & body. They can be diagnosed by keen observation, dermoscopic evaluation and biopsy.

- Lichen Planus Pigmentosus
- Ashy Dermatosis
- Riehl’s Melanosis
- Toxic Melanosis
- Acanthosis Nigricans
- Macular Amyloidosis
